Mary Ada Waddy-Kinney was born on May 21, 1921. She slept peacefully into eternity in the comfort of her daughter's home in Louisa on June 2, 2016. At the time of her passing, she had just celebrated her 95th birthday.
The daughter of the late Lena Waddy, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband of sixty-nine years, Julian R. Kinney, of Louisa; one daughter, Mary Lee Davis of California; five brothers, Johnny, Walter, Charlie, William, and Henry Waddy, of Washington, D.C.; and one sister, Mattie Waddy, also of Washington, D.C.
At an early age, she joined Eagle Baptist Church of Louisa, where she was blessed by the loving fellowship of the believers there, who welcomed her with open arms. In addition she received her early education here in the county, developing close relationships that lasted for a lifetime.
Mary loved God, family and her many friends who were sources of strength in all circumstances. Despite her quiet, laid-back demeanor, she found great joy in cooking and entertaining those she loved at dinners and cookouts. Her special dishes were those delicious sweet potato pies and crispy friend chicken. In fact, her gift of hospitality blessed all who passed her way.
She is survived by one loving and caring daughter, Roberta Ann Jackson-Carter, of Louisa; five grandchildren: Constance Smith-Tanner of Charlottesville; Cassandra Davis, of California; Cheryll Jackson, of North Carolina; Chantae Sanders, also of North Carolina; and Chereese Jackson, of Louisa; nine great-grandchildren, along with many other devoted family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at The Sun Chapel D. D. Watson Louisa with the Rev. Annie Holland officiating. Interment will follow in the First Baptist Church Cemetery.
