Mary Elizabeth "Tooten" Houchens, 87, of Mineral, Virginia gave up this earthly life on Monday, August 17, 2009 at Henrico Doctors Hospital
Richmond, Virginia.

Mary was the daughter of the late Eugene Houchens and Lizzie Harris Houchens. She was preceded
in death by her only son Thomas E. Houchens, Sr.; three sisters, Alice and Marie Houchens and Lucille Yancey; five brothers John, James,
Harry Lee, Ralph and Cornelius Houchens. Mary attended Louisa County Public Schools.

She leaves to cherish her memories, a loving dedicated and committed daughter-in law Margaret Louise Houchens of Mineral; three grandchildren, Gloria Ann Hackney, Corey Houchens both of Louisa, and Thomas Houchens, Jr. of Los Angeles; four great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; one brother, Eugene Houchens; two sisters, Hannah Hunter and Dorothy Henson of Mineral; three sisters-in-law, Alice B. Houchens, Bertha D Houchens and Alberta Houchens; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, August 21, 2009 at Rising Sun Baptist Church, 6829 Frederick Hall Road Mineral, Virginia 23117 with the Rev. Frederick Sales officiating. Interment will follow in the Houchens Family Cemetery Mineral, Virginia.
