Mary Lee Davis, a long-time resident of Atlantic City, NJ, peacefully began her final journey from Earth to Eternity to rest in the arms of her Lord and Savior, on Sunday, March 2,2014.
Mary Lee, as she was so affectionately called by her family and friends, was born August 31, 1944, in Louisa, Virginia to the late Ruby D. Davis, Sr., and Claudia (Morris) Davis.
Mary Lee moved north at an early age where she humbly called Newark, New Jersey and later Atlantic City, New Jersey, home. Mary took a position at Bally's Park Place Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey, where she worked until her retirement.
Mary Lee loved cooking, traveling, spending time with family, socializing, music and dancing, as well as playing and hosting card games. Mary was known for her kind heart and willingness to help all in need. Her charm and smile enlightened every moment, all who knew her, and captured no stranger.
Mary Lee's parents, her brother Ernest Davis, her nephews, Robert Holland, Jr., and Gregory Holland, as well as a very special cousin, Joyce Lee, predecease Mary.
Left to cherish the many memories of love and laughter are her sisters, Bessie Holland (Robert) of Kent Store, VA and Ernestine Hancock of Pleasantville, NJ; brothers, Ruby D. Davis, Jr. (Marie) and Arthur L. Davis (Susie) of Louisa, VA; her nieces, Wanda D. Gist (Leo) of Atlantic City, NJ, Deidre Holland of Chesterfield County, VA, Sonia Carter of MD and Florence Paige of Springdale, MD; nephews, Tony Davis of Takoma, Washington, Carlton Davis of Louisa, VA, Robert, Junior and Clarence Hiter of Louisa, VA.
A host of cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, family and friends whom all brought great joy to her life, also survive Mary lee.
Home-going services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014, at Eagle Baptist Church, 4783 Mt. Airy Road, Louisa, VA. Burial will follow in the Eagle Baptist Church Cemetery.
