BOWLES, Mrs. Mary Lou, 87, of Fork Union, Va., died on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Va. Born Saturday, September 5, 1925 in Fork Union, Va., she was the daughter of the late James Bowles and the late Louisiana Mills Bowles.

She was predeceased by son, Freddie A. Bowles; daughter, Cassandra Bowles; brothers, Benny Bowles and Willie Bowles; sisters, Bertha Bowles, Florence Johnson, Issetta Smith and Marjorie Lyons; grandson, Allen W. Bowles Jr.

She is survived by her daughters, Barbara A. Robinson, Louise B. Grooms, Eloise B. Griggs, Rosetta Bowles, Geneva B. Edwards, Melinda L. Childress and Belinda S. Bowles; sons, Allen, Ned and William (devoted) Bowles, Rudolph Bowles and Johnny Bowles; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her loving brother, James Edward Bowles; four sons-in-law, two daughters-in-law, and a host of nieces, cousins and friends.

Viewing will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2013 from 12 noon to 7 p.m. at Thomasson Watson Chapel, 4002 James Madison Hwy., Fork Union, Va. 23055, with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2013 at Thessalonia Baptist Church Fork Union,Va. Interment will be in Thessalonia Baptist Church Cemetery.
