Mamie R. Easton Melton McKeathon was born Feb 25, 1911, to late William and Georgia Bishop Easton. She joined Foster Creek Baptist Church and an early age.

Mamie had 3 sisters: Viola, Roberta and Earnestine and one brother, William Jr all of whom are deceased.

Mamie was raised in Louisa County and educated in Louisa County Public Schools. She moved to New Jersey and married the late Edward A. Melton. From that union, 2 children were born: the late Bernice M. Melton Smith and the late Willard C. Melton. She later married the late Claude McKeathon.
Mamie worked in New Jersey for over 40 years as a domestic worker for several families of which she remained in touch with even after her return home in 1969. She returned home to take care of her mother until her passing in 1974.

She leaved to cherish her memories, six grandchildren, Brenda Quarles (Phillip), Rosetta Burruss (Charles), Lorna Stevens, Kenneth Smith Sr, Sylvia Quarles (Albert) & Marcus Smith Sr. (Gail). She was predeceased by three grandchildren, Richard Smith Jr, Edward Smith Sr, and Karen Smith.

She was blessed with twenty-five great grandchildren, forty four great great grandchildren, and ten great great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funereal services will be held on Monday, December 15, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Thomasson Watson Chapel with the Reverend ELizabeth Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in the Easton Family Cemetery.
