Madlyn Poindexter Johnson Shelton, 82, of Louisa, died Thursday, December 26, 2013 at her residence. She was one of four childern, born to the late Bishop George McKinley Poindexter and Gladys Powell. Her mother, father, two brothers and one sister preceded her in death.

Madlyn completed elementary school and Junior High School in Washington, D.C., she completed High School at Morris High School in Nwe York, NY and started her career as a Private School Music Teach in New York City. She married Levy Johnson and lived in Long Island, NY until 1980 and the relocated to Louisa,VA, he preceded her in death in 1987. Madlyn married Leroy Shelton in 1992.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Zion Travelers Baptist Church 3662 Roundabout Road Louisa,VA with the Rev. Austin G. Bates officiating and Elder Lynn W. Beanum, Jr., eulogist. Interment will follow in the family cemetery.
