On December 19, 2020, the Lord gained his angel , Lucy Elvira Walker . She had been away from her home in Orange, VA and her love of 60 years, Lee Locker, since April due to the pandemic. She died peacefully at her granddaughter's home in Charlottesville, VA while being cared for by her daughter, Annie Smith. In 1935, Lucy was born to the beautiful Annie Alice Jones Walker and Robert White in Louisa, VA. She was raised by her mother and father , Emmett Isaiah Walker, Sr.

Lucy was baptized at Peach Grove Baptist Church in Louisa, VA at an early age. She was a member of the adult choir until her health started to decline. Because she gracefully learned to serve the Lord through the example set by her mother; she was one of God's most faithful servants during her 85 years on earth. Anyone who had the blessing of being in her presence felt her love and deep devotion to their well-being. She loved her church family.

Lucy attended school in Louisa, VA and was an exemplary student. She did not finish high school and started working as a domestic worker to help support her mother and siblings. She was extremely smart and continued to effortlessly learn throughout her life. She had impeccable work ethic and grace. In her 20's, she began working at Spring Garden Cleaners and later transferred to Dudley's Cleaners , both in Orange, VA. Because of her meticulous style, she spent more than five decades making sure people looked their best.

Lucy was great at many things, but she had a few specialties. She had the superpower of making everyone who was blessed to know her feel a deep and unwavering love. She was enormously kind and sweet, beyond measure. She cooked and baked with supreme love. Her food left you physically and spiritually full. She had been blessed with a brain that remembered everything until it remembered nothing. If you knew Lucy, you were guaranteed to receive a birthday, Christmas, or an "I'm thinking of you" card throughout the year. She loved to call and bless you with her gentle voice too. Whether she was congratulating you or sending her condolences, Lucy's voice was one of the first you would hear followed by a card in the mail and additional phone calls.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, Annie Alice Jones Walker and Emmett Isaiah Walker Sr., one brother, Emmett Isaiah Walker Jr., two sisters , Alice K. Jones and Isabelle B. Walker, one nephew, Emmett Isaiah Walker III, and one niece, Nancy Walker.

Lucy leaves to cherish her memory , her lifelong love, Lee Locker of Orange, VA. Her one and only child, a daughter, Annie Smith of Charlottesville. Three grandchildren: Jermell Walker (Angela), Nikuyah Walker and Terrece Smith all of Charlottesville. Nine great grandchildren: Shicora Anderson, Shakaya Cooper, Nadasia Walker, Dante Walker, Devin Walker, Tyus Shelton, Orianna Smith, Josiah Walker and Amira Walker. Three great-great grandchildren: Quayshawn Cooper, Ariyah Barber and Amari Barber. A brother, Thomas Edward Walker of Louisa, and one sister, Mary Jane Anderson of Gordonsville. A special sister-friend, Annie Lee Howard Burrell. She leaves behind many nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends with beautiful memories of her heart of gold.

Lucy will be truly missed. God has received a leading angel.
