Mineral - Lucy Blanche Scott Talley , a radiant soul known to many as Sue, peacefully departed this life on June 12, 2024 at the University of VA hospital surrounded by family. Born on September 15, 1933, in Orange, VA, she spent 90 glorious years adding joy and warmth to the lives of those around her. Lucy attended the Spotsylvania County School System. Married the love of her life in 1953 and joined Jerusalem Baptist Church in Mineral VA at an early age.
As a devoted mother and housewife, Lucy poured her heart into raising her children, Herbert (Pam), Herman, Therman, Charlotte, Corey, Sheree, and David, each of whom she loved unconditionally. Her home was a haven of warmth and love, filled with the aroma of her cooking, the sound of her singing, and the sight of her dancing. These passions were not limited to her home; she was a cherished member of her church choir, and a part of the food committee. She lived her life in a way that made those around her feel cherished and valued.
Lucy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Herbert Talley, her beloved daughter Shirley Johnson, her son Sherman Talley, her mother Lucy Porter Scott, and brother Joseph Allen Scott. In addition to her children, Lucy leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren. Her nurse and devoted granddaughter Sherenna Richardson, whose life she greatly impacted with her unconditional love and lessons of life. A devoted son and caregiver, Herman Talley( Bossie) who never left her side, and son-in law Robert Johnson, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
With a heart full of love, Lucy Blanche Scott Talley will be dearly missed but fondly remembered. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she has touched with her unwavering love, her ceaseless faith, and her zest for life. We invite you to share your memories of Lucy and upload photos to the memorial page, as a celebration of a life beautifully lived.
To each of you in the Talley family, we at D. D. Watson offer to you our most sincere and heartfelt sympathy and condolences. Our prayer continues to be that your abiding faith in God will lend to you a measure of comfort that will strengthen and sustain you during your time of sorrow.
