Louise Johnson Moore was born in Louisa County, Virginia on
February 29, 1932 to the late John Willie Johnson and Ann Johnson
Johnson. She departed this life on Thursday, July 31, 2008 in John Weiler
Hospital in the Bronx, New York.
Louise graduated from New York Vocational High school in Harlem,
New York.
She sang in the church as a child and loved singing the blues. Her
idols were the late Billie Holliday and the late Malcolm X.
Years ago her mom, Ann Johnson, moved to New York to pursue a
career as a professional seamstress. Her father sent Louise to New York Vocational School to major in becoming a
seamstress and to follow in her mother's footsteps. However, in
Louise's heart she wanted to pursue a career in singing. After the
birth of her son Nkrumah (now deceased) she made her own song
called "Stand Up and Fight, Until You See the Light."
She worked in many establishments in her younger years. In the late
1970's, she received her certification as a medical assistant.
Later in life, Louise devoted her life to her family which she loved
and cherished, she gave them strength, guidance and wisdom. She
taught them to respect family values.
She was united in marriage to the late John Henry Moore and to this
union were born John Henry, Jr., Larry, Sr., Patrice, Rose Ann
Farica; the deceased children were Sarah Louise (twin of Rose Ann)
and Nkrumah.
In addition to her children, left to cherish and celebrate her memory;
daughters-in-law, India and Faye; five grandchildren, Kareem, Larry,
Jr., Marcus, Shaneese and Yonette; four great grandchildren, Faith
(Kareen's daughter), Denzel, Peter and Terrell; a sister-in-law,
Geraldine Johnson and family of her late brother, Arin Johnson as
well as other family members and many friends.
Funeral services will be held 12 noon Saturday, August 9, 2008 at Thomasson Watson Funeral Chapel, 117 West Street, Louisa, Virginia 23093. Interment will follow in the Johnson Family Cemetery, Mineral, Virginia.
