Lola Estelle Mallory-Richardson departed this life on Sunday, February 26, 2023, at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Lola Estelle Mallory was born November 4, 1942, to the late James A. Mallory, Sr and Lucille Estelle Shelton who preceded her in death . She also was preceded in death by her husband Edward Richardson, Jr, five brothers: Thomas Winston, Robert Anthony, Leonard Lewis, Calvin Randolph, Arthur William Mallory, and one grandson Floyd Kerry Clark.
She was educated in Louisa County, public school and later relocated to Maryland in the mid- 1970's where she obtained her GED in Washington, DC. Lola began her career holding various occupations such as a cashier for the Little Tavern shop in Washington, DC, part-time providing cleaning services for Mary E. King who worked for the Jimmy Carter 's Administration (1977-1981); which allowed her to meet many state officials, dignitaries, and congressmen. She then continues her career working for the U.S. Department of Commerce in (1981-2016); Washington, DC for 35 years of federal services where she retired from in 2016. Lola (mom) took pride in every job she worked regardless of the occupation.
Lola attended Phillip Christian Church in Mineral, Virginia where she accepted Christ at a young age, she loved the Lord and loved to Usher at Philippi Christian Church or Shady Grove Baptist Church, just stepping. Before retiring Lola moved back to Louisa, Virginia where she meet an old schoolmate Edward Richardson, Jr. who she later married.
Lola leaves to cherish her memory: one son, Larry Timberlake (Louisa,VA); four daughters, Delphine Timberlake (Spotsylvania,VA), Karen Timberlake (Lexington Park,MD), Gwendolyn Potts (Upper Marlboro, MD) and Charlotte Timberlake (Bowie,MD); one brother, James M. Mallory, Jr., (Corrine); two sisters, Kathleen Mallory of Louisa, VA and Zelma Mallory of Palm Spring, Florida; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; two aunts, Maria Johnson (Washington,D.C.) and Martha Shelton (Louisa, Virginia); a cherished cousin, Frances Mitchell (Louisa, VA); two devoted friends, Mary Jean Comfort and Jannie Sprouse and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Public viewing will be held on Monday, March 6, 2023 from 4-7pm in the Sun Chapel @ D. D. Watson, Louisa.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Philippi Christian Church, 7133 Jefferson Highway, Mineral, Virginia with Evangelist Cynthia Payne, officiating. Internment will follow in County Line Baptist Church, 4070 County Line Road, Kents Store, Virginia 23084.
