Deaconess Lillie Mae Thurston Clark was born to the late David Alexander Thurston and Helen Marie Harris on July 10, 1939. She was the oldest of ten children. Lillie Mae Thurston joined Robert Lee Clark in holy matrimony on May 7, 1955. God blessed their union with Robert Jr., Calvin, and Christine a.k.a Tina.

Lillie Mae was a vibrant soul who loved the Lord and she served him with her talents. She loved to sing and play the piano. She was a well-known musician in the Louisa community in her day. She served as the musician for several churches in the area and she played for well over 40 years.

Lillie Mae was a hard worker who engaged in meaningful friendships with her co-workers at Louisa Manufactoring. Lillie Mae was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend. She loved her spending time with her family. As her health began to fail she became a resident of Louisa Health & Rehabilitation Center. It was there on Monday November 13, 2017 that God transitioned her from labor to reward.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Clark Sr., two grandsons Sergio and Travis Clark, one sister, Louise Iola Thurston and two brothers David and Gerald Thurston.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Robert Lee Clark Jr., (Emily), Calvin James Clark (Louise) and Christine Denise Graves (James), her grandchildren: Robert Lee Clark III a.k.a. Robbie (Danielle), Tiffany Nicole Graves, Ashley Danielle Clark, Phillip Sherrod Graves, and Christopher Jordan Clark, two great granddaughters: Arielle Simone Clark and Synai Monet Clark-Johnson, her sisters: Joanne Brice, Alice Christmas (Robert), Geraldine Ragland (Esmo), Bernice Redd, and Karen Thurston, her brother: Eldridge Thurston a.k.a Pete (Jenny), her brothers in law: Lawrence (Edna), Floyd (Barbara), Kelly (Dorothy), her sisters in law: Fannie Henderson (Nathaniel) and Gracie Smith (John), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

On the day of service, her remains will rest in the church for viewing from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

On Saturday, November 18, 2017, her life will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Divine Baptist Church 11933 Shannon Hill Road Louisa, VA 23093. The committal and benediction will be held in Church Cemetery.
