Lillian "Bernice" Shelton entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 30, 2021, surrounded by her loved ones.

She graduated from W. Sampson Brooks High School of Maryland in 1957 and moved to Louisa, Virginia where she took residence. Bernice joined Bright Hope Baptist Church in 1978 or 1979 by Christian Experience.

She was a strong participant in the church. She sang in the choir, acted as a treasurer and secretary, and she was the chaplain of their missionary. Her hobbies were singing, sewing, cooking and praising God. Her spiritual gift was witnessing for the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Jacob James Jones and Blanch Rawlings Jones both of Waldorf, Maryland; her son and daughter, Rodney Wells and Linda Marie Wells; her mother-in-law, Julia Shelton and her brother-in-law, Clarence Shelton.

She leaves to cherish her loving and devoted husband, Ronald Keith Shelton of Louisa, Virginia; her son, Ray Wells of Charlottesville, Virginia; her grandson, Larod Wells of Louisa, Virginia; her father-in-law, Curtis Shelton Jr. of Louisa, Virginia; six brothers-in-law, Curtis III (Ruth) of Mineral, Virginia, Charles (Freda) of Louisa, Virginia, Robin of Mineral, Virginia, Leslie (Eve) of Louisa, Virginia, Samuel (Mary Ann) of Mineral, Virginia, and Reginald Sr. (Lolita) of Mineral, Virginia and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Bright Hope Baptist Church, 9833 Poindexter Road, Louisa, Virginia with Reverend Robinson and special speakers, Reverend Sherman Thomas and Sister Annie Holland.
