Leroy Timberlake, 79, entered into eternal rest on November 14,
2012 after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Leroy was born on June 16, 1933, in Louisa County to the late
Wesley and Amanda Timberlake. He was preceded in death by
his sister Clara Bland in 2007.
Leroy was known to his family and friends as, "Lee-Lee", "Papa",
"Poopie", "Deac" and "Reverend Leroy. He was dedicated to all
of them and his church family.
In his younger years, Leroy was self-employed with his father in
the logging business. In 1980, he became employed with Dominion
Power, where he worked until his retirement in 1998. Leroy, having
been employed all of his life, decided to return to work and obtain employment wit the Louisa County Transportation Department,
transporting special needs children to and from school.
Leroy joined and was baptized at County Line Baptist Church at
an early age. He was a faithful member and sang with the men's chorus, chairman of the deacon board, member of the Usher Board, missionary and Sunday School and served as a deacon for 40 years.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving and faithful wife,
Josephine of 61 years; his daughters, Mary Timberlake of Charlottesville, VA, Judy Jefferson (Maurice) of Mitchellville, MD
and Matilda "Tillie" Beauford (Roland) of Palmyra, VA; four
grandchildren, Ramar Vaughan, Sr. (Diana), Adrienne Beauford,
Martell Jefferson and Amanda Beauford; two great-grandchildren,
Morgan Beauford and Ramar Vaughan, Jr.; one sister, Adele Quarles;
one brother, Lonnie Dickerson (Annette); four sisters-in-law, Martha Brice, Emma Washington (James), Jean Trice and Irene Morris; three aunts, Mary Scott, Malinda Bruce (Tom), and Fannie Timberlake; a devoted and dedicated friend, Warren Price and a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Leroy was a devoted Christian who loved reading his bible and sharing
God's word with others. His favorite song was, "There is a Bright Side
Somewhere."
Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2012 at County Line Baptist Church 4070 County Line Road Kents Store,VA with Rev. Walter H. Jones, Sr., officiating. Viewing Friday, November 16, 2012 at Thomasson Watson Chapel from noon until 7 p.m. and on Saturday, at church from noon until the hour of the service.
Interment will be in County Line Baptist Church Cemetery, Kents Store, VA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Hospice of the Piedmont and The American Cancer Society.
