Leonard Jay Lewis was born on August 23, 1969 and raised by his mother Stanlene Lewis and Jay Smith in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Lenny as he was affectionately known was educated in the Philadelphia Public School system. Upon graduation Lenny enlisted in the United States Army.

Lenny was raised on the same street with his childhood sweetheart. After many years had passed he reconnected with his childhood sweetheart and relocated to Orange County, VA. to be with the love of his life Stephanie Nowell.

Lenny was employed for seven years by the Orange County School system. Anyone that met Lenny liked him because he would talk and speak to everyone. Lenny love working at Prospect Heights Middle School and would speak fondly of all his colleagues and always eager to go to work. During his last hospital stay he was looking forward to going back to work, but God said his earthly works was done.

Lenny joined and was baptized at Shady Grove Baptist Church in 2018. One year later Leonard married his love of many years on August 31, 2019. The Lord allowed Leonard & Stephanie to spend four love filled years of married bliss until he succumbed to his illness.

Lenny was preceded in death by two (2) of his siblings: Stan Lewis and Jason Smith and one (1) Brother in Law, Gregory Nowell.

Lenny was loved by many and will be missed by all. He leaves to cherish his memory: his Wife Stephanie; Mother, Stanlene Lewis, Philadelphia, PA; Father, Jay Smith, Philadelphia, PA; Daughter, Nikasia Hernandez, Lake Charles, LA; one Son in Law, Juan Antonio Hernandez, Lake Charles, LA; two grandson's Bryson & Mathias Hernandez of Lake Charles, LA; Brother: Robert Lewis; Five Sister in Laws, Gwendolyn Mooney, Faith Nowell and Lesley Lewis of Philadelphia, PA. Marilyn Nowell, Newark, DE and Rose Williams, Unionville, VA; Three Brother in Laws, James Mooney, Phila. PA, Arnold Nowell, Newark, DE and Earl Williams, Unionville, VA. and a host of Aunts and Uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, lifetime friends, and adopted family.  One devoted and faithful friend to the very end Joe Thompson.
