Leon Edwin Morris departed this life early Tuesday morning March 17, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Hilltop, West Virginia to the late Clyde and Margaret Morris on July 31, 1938.
The family later moved to Louisa, Virginia where he was raised. Leon was educated in Louisa County public schools. At an early age, Leon joined the Galilee Baptist Church in Kents Store, Virginia. Later, he became affiliated with the Blue Run Baptist Church in Barboursville, Virginia.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Margaret Morris, two sisters, Sadye Mitchell and Patricia Morris, and one brother, Clyde Odell Morris.
He leaves to cherish his memory: one son, Alfonzo Jackson (Donna) and four grandchildren of Pennsylvania, and one daughter, Maxine Price of New Jersey; one brother, Hubert Morris (Joyce) of Palmyra, Virginia; seven sisters, Velma Dickerson of Dayton, Ohio, Barbara Scott (Gilbert), Peggy Brice (Willie), Naomi Gilliam (Henry) all of Louisa, Virginia, Earnestine Banks (David), Bernadine Bradshaw, and Mercelia Morris all of Richmond, Virginia; one sister-in-law, Virginia Morris, two aunts; Marie Harris all of Louisa, Virginia; and Lorene Johnson of Kents Store and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
Leon also leaves to cherish his memory, his extended family at the Friendly Oaks Club House in Mineral, Virginia, where he faithfully attended for over 30 years.
Leon will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the Galilee Baptist Church, 3598 Three Notch Road, Kents Store, Virginia, 23084 with Pastor Ruben Lewis, Jr. officiating and Rev. David L. Banks, Sr., eulogist. Interment will follow at the family cemetery.
