Leo Wayne Trice departed this life for his heavenly home on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at his home in Barboursville, VA.
Leo was born on November 6, 1958, to the late Willie Mason and Dorothy Harris Trice of Mineral. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles (Buck) Trice and Eric Trice.
Leo grew up on route 618 in Mineral. He was educated in the Louisa County School System where he was a member of the Lions basketball and track teams. After school, he turned his energies to perfecting his horseshoe game, spending many afternoons in friendly competitions with his brothers, nephews, and friends. He was a football dad, traveling to other states to support his son and his nephews in their sporting events. He was an avid fan of the Washington (Redskins) Commanders. Everyone knew that, in victory or defeat, Leo would never turn his back on his team.
He was a respected employee of Holly Farms in Ashland and Liberty Fabrics of Gordonsville. Most recently, he worked for Klockner Pentaplast in Gordonsville where he was a member of the Shipping and Receiving departments for 17 years. Leo was a tireless worker who always gave 100 percent. His co-workers admired his dedication and noted that he often went beyond the end of the workday to finish the job at hand.
Leo also worked faithfully in the House of the Lord. As a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church of Mineral, he served dutifully on the Usher Board, the Trustee Board, the Deacon Board, and the Male Chorus. His greatest work and accomplishments were his family. He was a proud husband of 38 years to Perphine (Phiney) Carey Trice; a loving father and father-in-law to Brent and Tinitra, and a "papa" to Taraji and Tariq. He found great joy in cooking, traveling to Las Vegas and cruising to the Bahamas, and his nightly FaceTime call with Taraji.
In addition to his wife, son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren, he is survived by eight-brothers, Robert Harris, Willie (Florence), Steve (Bessie), David Lee (Rosa), Larry, Rosson (Virginia), Marvin, and Lincoln – Bruce; two sisters, Sandra and Linda; two aunts, Eva Shelton and Nan Johnson; a devoted nephew, Shaun Trice; ten sisters-in-law, six brothers-in-law, a host of nieces and nephews, and countless friends.
Leo was a loving husband and father, devoted son and brother, supportive uncle, and friend. He will be greatly missed.
