"God saw him getting tired, a cure was not to be.
He wrapped him in his loving arms and whispered 'Come with me.'
He suffered much in silence, his spirit did not bend.
He faced his pain with courage, until the very end.
He tried so hard to stay with us but his fight was not in vain,
God took him to His loving home and freed him from the pain."

Lawrence Wadelle Perkins affectionately known to his friends as "Larry" was born on January 8, 1948 in Louisa, Virginia to the late Letcher and Helen Perkins. He was the oldest of 4 children born of this union. He graduated from Louisa High School and later moved to Washington, DC. where he served as staff support for the US Senate. Lawrence married and had one child from that union, Lawrence Wadelle Perkins, Jr.

As a son, brother, father, uncle, cousin and friend...he touched many lives. Friends and family will remember special moments with Lawrence at family cookouts, church revivals and holiday gatherings. He had a great sense of humor and a greater love for good food. He loved fried chicken, potato salad and macaroni & cheese. He enjoyed watching cowboy pictures and listening to oldies but goodies from music greats like Otis Redding and Wilson Picket. You could also catch him from time to time just sitting quietly outside, getting fresh air and enjoying life.

Lawrence leaves to cherish his memory, son Lawrence Perkins Jr.,; brother, Letcher "Levi" Perkins; sisters, Sheila Trowers and Camilla King; honorary sister and cousin, Gaylene Musgrove; nieces, Ashley Trowers and Natalie King; nephew, Eric Perkins; brother-in-law, Andre King; sister-in-law, Barbara Perkins; cousins, Janice Banks, Lisa Pegues, Anthony Banks, Kyre Perkins, Javier McDougal and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Thomasson Watson Funeral Chapel, Louisa, VA with the Reverend Dr. Earl Pendleton, officiating. Interment will follow at the First Baptist Church Cemetery.
