Lawrence Emmett Henson, 91 of Mineral, Virginia died on Friday, May 20, 2011, at University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia .
Born Friday, January 9, 1920 in Louisa, Virginia,he was the husband of Alice Minor Henson.
He served as a Pfc in the Army from 1942 until 1946 and was a Veteran of World War II.
He was a member of Rising Sun Baptist Church.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Alice M. Henson; two sons, Rev. Wesley L Henson and wife Barbara of Fluvanna County, Lawrence A Minor and wife Ann of Mineral, VA, sister, Mattie Henson of Mineral, VA; four grandchildren Shaun, Alan, Lawrence, and Keairia; one great-grandson Javon; one nephew Thomas H. Henson; two nieces, Gladys Anderson and Pauline Henson and many other caring relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2011 at Rising Sun Baptist Church 2829 Fredericks Hall Road Mineral,VA with the Rev. Joseph Yancey officiating.
Burial with military honors will be in Spring Grove Cemetery, Mineral, VA.
