Lawrence Fitzgerald Hayden, 58, of Louisa, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at UVA Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia after a short battle with cancer.
Lawrence was born on December 3, 1963 to the late Walter L. Hayden and Juanita C. Burruss Hayden. He was a lifelong resident of Louisa County where he attended Louisa County Public Schools and was a member of Philippi Christian Church. Lawrence loved gathering with his family and watching westerns and the Animal Planet. He adored his grandchildren and would often tell other family members stories of the things that they had said and done.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, Walter L. Hayden and Juanita C. Burruss Hayden, as well as his brother, Walter "Brad" Hayden, just a few short months ago.
Lawrence is survived by his son; Donta Shawan Humes, Donta's mother, Deborah Humes, his grandchildren; Destyni Kamya Humes, Aniyah Monae Humes, and Kaitlyn Marie Chambers all of Orange County, his brothers; Russell Hayden and Randy Hayden (Tonya), his sisters; Carolyn Brown (Kenneth) and Kathryn "Polly" Timberlake (Leonard) all of Louisa. He is also survived by his paternal aunt, Laura Payne of Louisa, paternal uncle, Willie Hayden (Brenda) of Chesterfield, maternal uncles, Charles Burruss, Sr. (Rosetta) of Louisa, Joseph Burruss (Yvonne) of Augusta County, Matt Smith and Fleming Shelton, Jr. both of Louisa and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Cheryl Morris for the care that she provided during Lawrence's health challenges.
And while Lawrence let us all know that he loved us, if Lawrence could say one last thing, it would probably be "Thank you, Polly, and I love you for the dedication and care that you provided for me over the past 11 years."
The funeral will be held on Friday, March 11, 2022 at 1:00pm at DD Watson Mortician, Inc. 117 West Street Louisa, VA 23093 and the burial will follow at the Hayden Family Cemetery on Smith Family Rd Louisa, VA.
