Larry Darnell Thurston departed this life surrounded by his family in the early morning Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at the University of Virginia Hospital.

He was born and raised in Louisa County, Virginia and joined First Bible Way Church of Christ at an early age. Darnell was born to the late Curtis W. Thurston and Pearl Lena Stewart Thurston on October 29, 1952. He was preceded in death by his father, his brother Marlon Thurston and his nephew Apollos Thurston.

He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Brenda of Louisa; nine children, Larry Thurston of Dinwiddie, VA, LaQuinta Thurston, Lionel Thurston, Logan Thurston, Lineka Hummel(Scott) all of Charlottesville, VA, Derek Green, Amanda Green both of Albemarle, VA, Geraldine Kelley of Louisa, VA and Robert Blakey; fifteen grandchildren, four great grandchild, his mother Pearl lean of Louisa, VA; five brothers, Curtis Thurston(Wanda), Micheal Thurston(Hariett), Auston Thurston(Sheila) all of Louisa, VA: Eric Thurston(Rosalind) of Maryland and Jason Thurston of Louisa, VA; three sisters, Naomi Lavern Blakey of Louisa, VA, Priscilla Ragland(Nathan) of Fredericksburg, VA and Lisa Thurston of Louisa, VA; four brothers-in-laws, Freddie Jones, Eddie Jones, Lee Jones and Howard Blakey all of Louisa, VA; two sisters-in-laws, Cynthia Phoenix of Dale City, VA and Tiffany Jones of Louisa, VA; four uncles, four aunts and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

The family will received friends from 6-7 p.m. at The Sun Chapel at D. D. Watson Mortician, Inc.

Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, March 12, 2016 at First Bible Way Church of Christ 785 Goldmine Road Louisa, VA 23093 with Bishop Steve Wright, officiating. Interment will follow in the family cemetery.
