Katharyne L. Beverly was born to the late Thomas Beverly Sr. and Elsie Beverly on April 20 1932 in Washington D.C. Katharyne was affectionately known to many as Beverly and K Bev. Beverly was the only girl out of four children. On Sunday April 15th 2018, she went home for an eternal rest after a short illness at Sentara Martha Jerfferson Hospital.
Beverly was educated in the District of Columbia Public School System. During Beverly's early 20's she began working for the U.S. Department of Defense of interior where she was a private investigator and war planner. Beverly was a fast learner and because of this, she advanced quickly within the ranks of the government. After 34 years of dedicated service, Beverly retired from the government.
Retirement didn't stop Beverly. During years of retirement, Beverly enjoyed traveling and going to car shows. Beverly was a faithful member of the Lake Anna Cruizers and Oldsmobile of America, where she won numerous trophies for her 1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Convertible and 1975 Corvette Stingray Convertible. Although she loved her Corvette, her 1973 Olds was her heart. Her motto was: "DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT."
Beverly was proceded in death by Rainey, her life partner of 40 plus years; her parents and two brothers. She leaves to cherish her memories, one brother, Clarence Beverly of Maryland; 3 Godchildren, Diana Kelly of Chesapeake Virginia, Dwight Lamar of Atlanta Georgia and Brian Courtney of Louisa, Virginia; one devoted Godson, Gary James-Willis (Larry) of Louisa, Virginia; five devoted friends, Cynthia Bannister, Gary and Brenda Willis, Nitika (Charles) Mercer and David Llyod all of Louisa, Virginia. She also leaves a devoted friend/caretaker, Patrica Carter of Fluvanna Virginia.
A memorial will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 22, 2018 at The Sun Chapel@ D.D. Watson, Louisa.
Interment will take place on Monday, April 23, 2018 at 11 a.m. in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, 4001 Suitland Road, Suitland, Maryland 20746.
