It is with great sadness to announce on April 3rd, 2024, we said our earthly goodbyes to a beloved soul, Kalup Jamar Kinney as he lost his fight with cancer. Kalup was hopeful for a positive outcome and even stated "if they can't find a cure for me, I hope they find a cure for others". Kalup's statement is a testament of his courage, strength and love for other people. Kalup was a good kid who tried to stay positive no matter what.
Kalup was born on August 5th, 1999 in Fredericksburg Va and was such a sweet and loving child. Over the course of his life, he tried to make a difference in the lives of others. Though his life ended so soon, Kalup's 24 years were marked by a courageous spirit, a smart mind and a humble heart. Those who knew him would say he was a "gentle giant". Kalup was a beacon of light to all who knew him, his warmth and kindness radiating with every interaction.
Kalup worked as a security guard at Blue Green Vacations at Shenandoah Crossing, where he demonstrated his courageous, brave and steadfast nature. Outside of work, he was an avid video game enthusiast, always ready to engage in friendly competition and share his skillful strategies. Despite his personal passions, what mattered most to Kalup was his family who he had a deep love for.
Kalup leaves behind a legacy of love and memories that will be cherished by his mother,Tiffany Nicole Jackson, father, James William Syrkes Jr, maternal grandparents, John and Sandra Kinney, paternal grandparents, Linda and James Syrkes Sr, one sister, Heaven Kinney, two brothers, Thomas Collins III and Silas Collins, one uncle, John "Buddy" Kinney, and a very special friend, Jonathan Rogers, who was by his side throughout the duration of his illness. Kalup is preceded in death by an infant brother, James William Syrkes III.
Kalup's life is a testament of the strength and courage of the human spirit. He was a great human being who fought as hard as he could until the end. His memory will undoubtedly continue to inspire and guide those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Matthew 5:4 "Blessed are they that mourn; for they shall be comforted"
