July 11, 1948 – July 24, 2020
Beloved husband , father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Junior Nathaniel Hiter, 72, was born July 11, 1948 in Louisa County, VA to Susie Brooks Davis and George Hiter. He departed this life on July 24, 2020 at Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, VA.
Junior was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bustard and Ruth Brooks, Ms. Savannah Hiter; parents Susie Brooks Davis and George Hiter; uncles Junior Brooks and Frank Brooks; aunt Mildred Simms; and nephews Barry Mallory and Brian Garland.
Junior joined the Eagle Baptist Church in Louisa, VA at an early age, where he remained a member throughout his life. He also was educated through the Louisa County Public Schools. He was employed at Virginia Power for many years.
He showed great interest in hunting, fishing and guitar playing, as he did with his buddies throughout his life until he became ill. Junior was well-respected in the Louisa community. Those who knew him loved and adored him. He would frequent his favorite place of business - the Louisa Fasmart, formerly known as Amoco, to get his daily cup of coffee and he was always treated like family.
Junior leaves his precious memories to cherish - his wife of 54 years, Mrs . Shirley Hiter; his dad, Mr. Arthur Lee Davis, Sr. of Louisa, VA; daughters Mecellia Johnson (John) of Spotsylvania, VA, Shawanda Hiter of Richmond, VA; brothers Henry Hiter (Gaylon), Robert Hiter (Lisa), Arthur Lee Davis, Jr. and Quinton Davis , all of Louisa, VA, Clarence Hiter of Philadelphia, PA; one devoted sister, Florence Paige (Frank) of Springdale, MD. Junior also leaves cherished memories to his aunts, Edith Byers (Clinton) of North Garden, VA, Dorothy Poindexter (Aubrey) of Louisa, VA; uncles, George Brooks, Lenny Brooks, also of Louisa, VA; and the Quarles Family, whom Junior adored.
He also leaves memories to brothers-in-law William Cooke (Elsie) of Newport News, VA, Mack Cooke, Mike Cooke and Roy Cooke of Charlottesville, VA, and Gary Cooke of Louisa, VA; sisters-in-law Jackie Washington (Bubba) Upper Marlbo ro, MD, Teresa Cooke of Goochland, VA, Judy Cooke (Ralph), Dawn Cooke (Lionel) and Annette Cooke (Robert), all of Louisa, VA
Junior also cherished his four grandkids - Lamar, Josh, Tiffany and Isaiah; seven great grandkids - Mason, Jaden, Kaylei, Lylah, London, Josh Jr., Legend and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins that he dearly adored.
Also, devoted friends John Comfort, Julian Anderson, Grayling Price, James Bates.
SPECIAL THANKS / ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
The family would like to acknowledge the gratitude and kindness of Judy Cooke, Ralph Anderson and Loquan Anderson. They were there to show support through Junior's illness; the maintenance of his residence and feeding his dog (Pretty) on an everyday basis as his health failed.
Thanks to all of his family and friends for the phone calls, hospital visits and everything too plentiful to name. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
A special thanks to Desiree Morris who kept a watchful eye on him throughout his dialysis and for showing her support.
We, the family, would also like to thank the medical staffs of Martha Jefferson Hospital, Charlottesville, VA; Fresenius Dialysis of Louisa, VA; and Johnston-Willis Hospital of Chesterfield, VA.
