Julia Mae (Sims) Holland departed this life after living with Alzheimer's Disease for eight years. She was a devoted woman of God, placing her family first and married to Thomas ("Dick") Holland for 61 years while residing in Louisa County, Virginia.

Born to Tom and Ruth Sims on January 12, 1931, Julia Holland attended elementary and high school in Louisa County until the 11 th grade. She worked at a clothing factory in Louisa County for several years; raised and home-schooled many toddlers until they reached elementary school age in her home for nine years; was a teacher's aide at Louisa Elementary, Mineral Middle, Louisa High and Trevilians Elementary schools for a number of years before retirement. As an active member of Bright Hope Baptist Church in Trevilians, Va, she sang in the choir, was a trustee and served as church treasurer for over 20 years.

Julia Holland was preceded in death by her husband Thomas "Dick" Holland and one daughter, Karen. She leaves behind two daughters: Loretta Bullock of Louisa and Donna Hytche (William) of Tennessee; two sons: Calvin (Pam) of New Jersey and Aaron (Marilyn) of Fredericksburg, Va.; one brother: Thomas (Lillie) of Maryland; five grandsons: Craig Holland (Cheryl) of Louisa; William P. Hytche, III (Maryland); Bryant Holland (New Jersey); Daniel Batista (Yury) of Hinesville, Ga. , Aaron C . Holland (Fredericksburg, Va.); three granddaughters: Chealsey (Kyle) of New Jersey; Stephanie Wills ( Jacory) of Richmond, Va.; five great- grandchildren: Kiya, Jocelyn, Kayla, Andre, and Niah; seven sister-in-laws and one brother-in-law: Fannie Sims, Barbara Holland, Ronnie (Phyllis) Holland and May Holland all of Louisa; Ruth, Jeanette, and Marjorie (New Jersey); a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, cousins, church members, friends and many that are now adults that she taught as kindergarteners in her home.
