Julia Marie Rodwell was born to the late Clarence & Ida Mae Bailey. She was married to the late Thomas Rodwell for 59 years. Julia departed this life on Wednesday, December 21, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by two sons, William & Julian; three sisters, Violet, Dorothy & Elizabeth, and two brothers, Clarence & William.

Julia became a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church in her final days. She attended Jackson P. Burley High School in Charlottesville, VA where she graduated in 1954. She was a homemaker and enjoyed being around her family. She was a devoted family woman who was very special to her family and anyone that she encountered. She was known by everyone by the dear name of "Nanny."

Julia enjoyed watching soap operas especially, "The Young & the Restless" & "The Bold & the Beautiful." She was always known to crack a joke and put a smile on your face. She was also known for "telling you like it is" as well. One of her favorite phrases was "smarty went to the part but wasn't nobody there but smarty."

She leaves to cherish her memory: one loving daughter, Judith (Jerry) Wright of Orange VA; one son, Thomas Rodwell Jr. of Richmond VA; numerous grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.

Our "Nanny" was truly loved and will be missed by all. She is gone from this world and is now residing in the house of the Lord.
