Joyce Annette (Stewart) Mayo
was called home to be with the Lord on September 5, 2021, at the University of Virginia Hospital. She was born in Louisa, Virginia on March 7, 1944 to the late Eugene and Inez Stewart. Joyce was the third of six children of Eugene and Inez. Joyce attended A.G. Richardson High School in Louisa County, and graduated in 1962.
She was baptized at a young age under the leadership of the late Bishop Hayes at Bibleway Church of Louisa (First Bible Way Church). Joyce relocated to Northern Virginia and was a loving mother of three children. She worked for Dynatec Data System for over 20 years. In 1977, while working for Dynatec she met and fell in love with Willie R. Mayo. Joyce married Willie September 18,198

. While in Lorton, Virginia she became a faithful member of Cornerstone Church of Christ under the leadership of Elder and Mother Arthur Cotton. In her later years, Joyce moved back to Louisa County where she immediately joined First Bible Way Church and served on the usher board, along with being a missionary for First Bible Way Church. While serving at First Bible Way, she established a faithful spiritual relationship with Pastor Robert Christmas. Joyce Annette Mayo will be remembered for unique style of fashion, her famous pound cakes, and macaroni and cheese! She will also be remembered as a fighter, beating Lung Cancer, Breast Cancer and recently Covid-19.
She leaves to cherish her memory: Two brothers: Matthew Stewart (Debbie), Charles Stewart, one sister Kaye Pearl Davis (late Richard), and late-siblings Emma Jean Robinson and Timothy Stewart; Three children: Vennetta Newby (Kevin), Michael Robertson (Ivy) and Ricardo Mayo; Six grandchildren: Craig Robertson (Danielle), CeJay Lambert, Janaya Robertson, Ashton Robertson, Jordis Robertson, and Darius Day; and four great-grandchildren. Joyce had a huge family with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins and a host of friends and loving church family.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, September 11, 2021 First Bible Way Church of Christ 785 Goldmine Road Louisa, with Elder Robert Christmas officiating. Interment will follow in the Stewart Family Cemetery.
