Annette was born April 14, 1925 in Dryden, VA (Lee County) and
died April 1, 2013 in Gilbert, AZ due to medical complications.
She was married on July 20, 1947 to Philip Austin Shepherd.
She graduated from Madison Women's College with a degree in education and taught high school home economics before becoming a full-time mom and homemaker. She lived in the Richmond area over 60 years. She was a member of Skipwith Baptist Church and served as treasurer. She loved to cook, garden, travel and play bridge.
Annette was preceded in death by: her parents, Robert Lee Cox and Tempa Slemp Cox; her sister, Mary Ruth Cox Ross and her brother Glen Cox. She is survived by her husband, Philip Austin Shepherd; her daughter, Carolyn Shepherd Brim; her son, Wayne Shepherd; her daughter-in-law, Pamela Walsh Shepherd; her granddaughter, Taryn Brim Spates and her great-grandsons, Michael and Mark Spates.
Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Sunday, April 7, 2013 at Fork Union Memorial Cemetery, Highway 15, Fork Union, VA.
