On Wednesday November 10, 2021, God saw His daughter Josephine Timberlake was getting weary and tired, so he did what he knew best, he whispered in her ear and told her to come home and rest.
Josephine Mary Catherine Morris Timberlake was born on July 14, 1935 to the late Corrie K. Morris, Sr. and Amanda Bell Price Morris. Josephine was the last child of six. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Martha Brice, Constance Morris and Jean Trice; her brothe,r Corrie K. Morris, Jr. and her husband of 61 years, Deacon Leroy Timberlake.
Josephine attended Louisa Training School and worked as a Housekeeper until her retirement in 2012. She married Leroy Timberlake on October 13, 1951.
Josephine joined Zion Travelers Baptist Church in Louisa, Virginia at an early age. After her marriage to Leroy, she moved her membership to County Line Baptist Church where she remained active until her health began to decline. During her membership at County Line, she served with various ministries: Usher Board, Pulpit Aid and Deaconess. She joined the missionary in 1972 and was president for 24 years. Josephine, with her husband Leroy, helped organize and formulate the first Food Pantry on behalf of the missionary. They picked up and delivered food to the church community. Josephine was truly a "willing worker" when it came to her church. A quiet, soft- spoken woman, Josey, JoJo, Granny or Gran-Gran as she was called by her family, was easy going and kindhearted. She loved crafting and making wreaths until her arthritis prevented her from doing so. Not only was she an excellent crafter, she was a wonderful cook. Josey was known for her delicious country ham, macaroni and cheese, collard and kale greens, rolls and homemade German Chocolate Cake. She loved her family very much. She especially loved spending time with her grands and great-grands.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her devoted daughters, Mary Timberlake (Louisa, VA), Judy T. Jefferson (Maurice) Mitchellville, MD and Matilda "Tillie" Beauford (Roland) Palmyra, VA; four grandchildren, Ramar Vaughan, Sr. (Diana) Upper Marlboro, MD, Adrienne Beauford (Palmyra, VA); Amanda Beauford-Brown (DA'Mon) Richmond, VA; and Martell Jefferson, Mitchellville, MD. Three great-grandchildren, Morgan Beauford, Ramar Vaughan, Jr. and Raegan Vaughan; one sister, Emma Washington; one sister-in-law, Adele Quarles; two brothers -in-law, Willie Bland and Lonnie Dickerson (Annette); a devoted friend, Mabel Timberlake; two exceptional and dedicated caregivers, Marilyn Anderson and Teresa Dickerson and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
