On September 25, 1939, God blessed the world with a sunshining face named Joseph May Wynn. Joseph May was born to the late Wilson James and Geneva Wynn. As a young child, Joseph became known as "Joe".

While growing up Joseph developed a love for the bible and later joined the Mt. Gilliam Old Site Baptist Church. In 1961 Joseph and Shirley Jones were united in marriage. Joseph and Shirley cherished and loved five children. With a heart of gold, he chose to extend his family by loving five special daughters and four sons. Four brothers and one god-son, Francis (Billy Bird) Anderson preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving wife, Shirley; a son, Joseph S. (Michelle); three daughters, Jewel, Sibyl and Jo-Mona (Wendell); five special daughters, Sheila Lee, Gail Smith, Eleanor Grooms, Donna Williams and Diana Lanclos ; four special sons, Tony Lee, Melvin Grooms (Jr.), Brandon Lee and Napoleon Johnson Jr. ; a daughter-in-law, Denise Anderson; 13 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ernestine (Peter) Moore and Daisy Lewis; two special cousins, David Winn Jr. and Amelia Winn Jackson.


Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 13, 2010, at Mt. Gilliam Baptist Church (Old Site) 4161 Chalklevel Road Louisa, Virginia 23093 with Rev. Sherman W. Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
