John Richard Epps, Jr. aka June transitioned to eternal rest on February 18, 2022, while at Louisa Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was born October 30, 1939 in Louisa, VA to the late John Epps and Rebecca Spicer.  Devoted Godparents, Phillip and Susie Quarles helped raise him and preceded him in death.

After graduating from Louisa County Public Schools, he worked various jobs including Ferebee Ford as a mechanic for several years.

Soon after, June built his own garage and did mechanic work for countless people from Louisa and surrounding counties. He gained a reputation for being a knowledgeable and reasonably priced mechanic. When June wasn't under a car, he was doing carpentry work or cutting grass throughout the community.

After retiring, June liked staying close to home and could be found at one of his favorite stops like the Aamco Gas Station, Mini Mart or sitting on the screened-in porch at Aunt Susie's.  His all-time favorite place to be was his church.

June became a member of First Baptist Church in Louisa, VA at an early age. He loved his home church and church family. He worked tirelessly at the church almost daily and could be found there most times until his health declined.  During his time as a dedicated member of First Baptist, he sang on the Senior and Men's choir, and served on the usher board, and as a trustee.  June enjoyed transporting members to and from church in the church van.  He also maintained the church and cemetery grounds and the church parsonage.

June leaves behind one son, Eric Epps; one daughter, Penny Epps Hunt (Darryl); two grandchildren, Brandon Epps and Wynter Epps Hunt; one great granddaughter, Brooklyn Epps and trusted caregiver Ruby Epps and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. His sister Dorothy Williams and brother Allen Epps, Sr. preceded him in death.
