John Overton Collins,78, transitioned home at Chippenham Hospital, Richmond, Virginia on October 24, 2019, at 9:35 PM. John was a native of Louisa County and was the 5 ^th child of 8 children to the late Joseph and Gussie Collins.

John Overton Collins, "Pork Chop", as called by some people, was born on December 5, 1940. He received his education in Louisa Training School and A.G. Richardson School. At a young age, Reverend C.C. Dickerson baptized him at Laurel Hill Baptist Church.

John was proceeded in death by his father Joseph, his mother Gussie Collins, and two brothers Joseph and Thomas Collins. He leaves to cherish his memories four sisters; Annabelle Mayers of Little Mountain, South Carolina, Geraldine Thompson of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, and Melina Monroe and Gussie Thurston of Louisa County, Virginia.  Also, he will be remembered by countless cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Viewing will be on Thursday, October 31, 2019, from 4:00-7:00 PM.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 1, 2019 at 2 PM with viewing from 12:30 -2:00 PM at Laurel Hill Baptist Church 7652 Kentucky Spring Road Mineral, Virginia 23117 with Rev. Barry Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
