Jessie Rosevelt Nelson, the son of the late George and Nettie Turner Nelson, was born on July 4, 1936. On Saturday June 8, 2018, God quietly reached down and wrapped his arms around his son Jessie and called him home. Jessie was raised and educated in Louisa County, Virginia.

He was a member of St. John Baptist Church in Louisa. He was married to Betty Nelson in November 1956. Four children were born from this union. They lived in Louisa, Virginia.

Jessie was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Betty Nelson. Jessie Nelson retired from Henrico County of 30 years. He loved his family and children. He also loved the outdoors and animals including the pigs he raised over the years.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his sons Charles Nelson (Esther) of Ashland VA, Michael Nelson of Winston Salem, NC, daughters Virginia Nelson, of Mineral, VA, Joyce Nelson, of Norfolk, VA, Stepdaughter Gladys Smith (Herman) of Greenville, NC. Stepson Emmanuel Harris of Lexington, VA (deceased). Four sister in laws Laura Evans of Richmond, VA, Helen Jones of Washington DC, Florence Pace of Oxen Hill, MD and Sadie Johnson of Mineral, VA; 18 grand-children and 22 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held noon on Friday, June 15th 2018 at The Sun Chapel D. D. Watson Louisa, with Pastor Temple Anderson Sr., Officiating.
Interment will follow in St. John Baptist Church Cemetery.
