Jessie Bernard Coleman, age 70 of Bumpass, Virginia, peacefully departed this life on Friday May 2, 2014, at Louisa Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born on Thursday April 6, 1944, to the late Irving and Martha EdDora Williams Coleman. He was the second child born to his parents and was preceded in death by one brother, Aulton Coleman.
He accepted Christ at an early age, and was baptized at Mt. Garland Baptist Church. He was educated in Louisa County Public Schools.
He worked for several businesses such as Superior Manufactory, Thomas Stanley Sawmill, Tyler Lumber Company, Burns Security, Stone & Webster and Atlantic Nuclear Services. He worked at J.E Jones Lumber Company in Montpelier, Virginia until January 2013 when his health began to fail.
He enjoyed fishing, auto racing and watching WWF wrestling.
He is survived by three brothers, John Coleman and Herman Coleman of Bumpass, Virginia and Alonzo Coleman and wife, Florence of Richmond, Virginia; two sisters, Gloria Coleman of Bumpass, Virginia and Deborah French and husband, Wilbert of Mineral, Virginia; one God-brother, Kincaid Coleman of Mineral, Virginia; two nieces, Cherritta Foster of Beaverdam, Virginia and Erika Coleman of Richmond,Virginia; one nephew David Wattie of Pennsylvania; one great-nephew, Jaheim Maye; four great-nieces, Jasmine,Julie and Jayla Westbrook and Raven Wattie; three aunts, Mary Perkins of New Jersey, Alice Johnson of Mineral, Virginia and Addie Medina of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; one uncle Marvin Williams of Bumpass, Virginia; a host of devoted relatives and many devoted friends.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Mt. Garland Baptist Church, 4000 Buckner Road, Bumpass, VA 23024 with Rev. Cosby officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
