Jerry Odell Wright, Sr. , was born to Mildred Wright and the Late Deacon John Calvin Wright, Sr. He was married to his loving wife Judith Rodwell Wright for 40 years. Jerry entered eternal rest on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at his home. He was preceded in death by his father, the late Deacon John Calvin Wright, Sr. and his granddaughter Brooklynn Monique Ellis.

Jerry accepted the Lord as his personal savior. As a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church, he served as an usher and enjoyed serving members and visitors in the kitchen. Throughout the community, he was well known, waving at all who passed his house as he sat in his yard. He was fondly referred to as the Mayor of Thornhill.

Jerry graduated from Orange County Public Schools where he was a wrestler and baseball player on the Junior Varsity teams. As a young man, he played shortstop on the Peach Grove softball team. Because of his skills, he was nicknamed Pedro after the professional ball player Pedro Rodriguez.

He worked in maintenance at Clark School, North Anna Power Plant, and Burger King. Jerry enjoyed fishing and hunting. Jerry loved meticulously cleaning his cars inside and outside.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Judith (Missy) Wright, his mother Mildred Wright of Orange; two daughters Shequita Wright and Karen Rodwell of Orange, two sons, Travis (Bethany) Lucas of Pennsylvania, and Jerry O. Wright, Jr. of Orange; nine grandchildren Deonte' Lucas, Amaree Lucas, D'Myijha Wells, Bubba Wells, Brieanna Ellis, Makyla Lucas, Arianna Lucas, and Dahmeir Wells, and Lilly Brash; one brother John (Yinoris) of Williamsburg, two sisters Geraldine Ellis of Louisa and Willie (Frank) Dickerson of Gordonsville; one uncle, William Ellis; a special aunt Mary Wright of Orange; and two special friends Sean Snyder and Herbert Lindsay; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.

To the Wright family, we at  D. D. Watson offer our most sincere sympathy and condolences. Our prayer continues to be that your abiding faith in God will lend to you a measure of comfort that will strengthen and sustain you during your time of sorrow.
