Jennifer Anne Harper, a loving mother, daughter, niece, friend, and caregiver, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at the age of 41.
She was born in Charlottesville, Virginia, on May 12, 1980, and graduated from Orange County High School and Piedmont Virginia Community College Nursing School.
She was a member of Rising Sun Baptist Church of Mineral, Virginia
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, George and Lillian Bailey, and Francis and Betty Harper.
She is survived by her son, Ethan Foster of Louisa, Virginia; her mother, Shirley Harper of Louisa, Virginia; her father, Latane Harper (Pat) of Rotunda West, Florida; her fiancé and soulmate, Carl Shook and his son Ceth Shook, both of Ruther Glenn, Virginia; her ex-husband, David Foster of Louisa, Virginia; aunt and uncle, Nancy and Jack Gilliam of Williamsburg, Virginia; aunt, Peggy Sperduto of Frederick, Maryland; cousins and friends.
From an early age, Jennifer knew her passion was giving care to others. She was a former member of the Gordonsville Volunteer Rescue Squad and was a Registered Nurse and Director of Infection Control/Education Coordinator at Dogwood Village of Orange County. However, her greatest joy was providing care and comfort to everyone she came in contact with. If you were lucky to be Jennifer's friend, you were her friend for life; she laughed and cried with you and was always there when you needed her. One of Jennifer's co-workers recently compared her to Florence Nightingale; not only do they share the same birth date, but they also share the same nursing spirit. She will be greatly missed by all.
Jennifer was also a Victim Advocate for Domestic Violence with Louisa County, which was a subject near and dear to her heart. She prided herself with the ability to give others hope and support in difficult times and to ensure there was light at the end of the tunnel.
Jennifer's family will receive family and friends on Wednesday, January 12, from 6 pm to 8 pm in The Sun Chapel at D. D. Watson, Louisa.
Funeral services will also be held in The Sun Chapel at D. D. Watson, Louisa, on Thursday, January 13, at 10 am. Interment will be at Essex Cemetery, Tappahannock, Virginia.
