James (Sonny) Edward Talley, Jr. departed this life on November 1, 2018 surrounded by family and friends at UVA Medical Center, Charlottesville, Virginia.
James was born November 13, 1961 at UVA Medical Center, Charlottesville, Virginia to Nora Talley and the late James E. Talley, Sr. James accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age, then was baptized and joined First Baptist Church, Louisa, Virginia. James received his education in the Louisa Public Schools.
James was employed with UVA Food Services for many years. He also worked at Zion Crossroads Exxon until his health failed.
James to cherish his memories, his mother, Nora Talley of Louisa; brother, Michael Wayne (Desirae) of Louisa; sister, Archie Mae Wright (Mack) of Maryland; his devoted friend, Phyllis Carter and her children, Brittney Shelton and Kevin Thomas of Louisa; aunts, Pearl Burruss of Louisa and Ada Hopewell of Goochland; special friends, Irvin Holt, Robert Holt, William Garnett, Floyd Clark, Larry Jasper and Robert Waller and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
James lived his life to the fullest-always finding humor in good and bad situations. His warm, infectious personality drew
people to him, never meeting a stranger. James loved birthdays, especially his; traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Some may remember James as the taxi driver (so-called!), mayor of Louisa, town reporter, party buddy or just that great guy with a big heart that would help anyone he could. James will be sadly missed by all.
Special thanks to Zion Crossroads Dialysis staff, who he loved like family. Also special thanks to Louisa Rescue Squad and UVA Hospital ICU staff for caring for him with compassion and dignity during his last hours. Your kindness shall never be forgotten.
