James Philip Lewis, 85 of Gordonsville, Virginia died on Friday, February 19, 2016, at University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Born Wednesday, March 12, 1930 in Gordonsville, Virginia , he was the son of the late Richard Lewis and the late Annie Steward Lewis. He was the husband of Beatrice Lewis.
He was a member of Bright Hope Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife Beatrice S. Lewis, three sons, three daughters, one brother, one step-daughter and one step-son; a host grand's and great-grand's, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, February 26, 2016 in . D. D. Watson Chapel 117 West Street Louisa, VA 23093.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Bright Hope Baptist Church 9833 Poindexter Road Louisa, Virginia 23093, with Rev. Alonza Minor officiating. Burial, with military honors will follow in the church cemetery.
