The Reverend Doctor James Arthur Lewis, 92, was born on October 11, 1926 in Spotsylvania, Virginia to Leon and Elizabeth Wright Lewis.

He quietly took his heavenly flight, April 29, 2019 at 2:25 pm.

James was proceeded in death by his parents Leon and Elizabeth Wright Lewis, sisters Elizabeth Lewis, Kathleen Rawlings, and Bessie Williams; and one brother Linwood Lewis. He leaves to cherish his memory his brother Joseph Lewis of Orange, Virginia 23 nieces and nephews, 54 great nieces and nephews, 73 great-great nieces and nephews, and one great-great-great niece and one great-great-great nephew and a host of cousins and friends.

Reverend Doctor James A. Lewis was the Pastor Emeritus of the Mt. Beulah Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan, where he Pastored for 41 years.

Family will receive friends for a viewing on Friday, May 10, 2019 from 6-8 pm at the Shady Grove Baptist Church, 21024 Piney Woods Road, Orange, Virginia 22960; and another viewing on Saturday, May 11, 2019 beginning at 10 am.

Funeral services will follow immediately at 11 am. Interment will be at the J. Howard Richardson Memorial Parkway, at Shady Grove Baptist Church, Orange, Virginia. Family will receive friends for a repast at the church fellowship hall.
