James W. (Park) Johnson Sr. departed this life on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at
Retreat Hospital in Richmond, Va.
James (Park) joined the Laurel Hill Baptist Church at an early age. He was
educated in the Louisa County Public Schools. James (Park) loved the outdoors.
Hunting and fishing was one of his favorite past times. James (Park) was born
May 10, 1931 to late Walter and Melvina Johnson in Louisa County.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Carolyn J. Mason and son David
Johnson and parents. He was also preseded in death by three sisters and four
brothers. He is survived by his devoted wife of fifty-six years, Alice M. Johnson;
eleven surviving children, step-son, Carroll Williams, James E. Johnson, Antonio
Johnson (Jackie), James W. Johnson Jr. (Irish), Charles Leon Johnson, Gregory
Johnson (Rita), son-in-law, Abraham Mason, step-daughter, Mary Jackson
(William), Charmane Shelton (James), Alice Flowers (Kenny), Monica Johnson
and Greta Johnson; three sisters, Hilda Camp, Eva Johnson and Juanita Whites of
Richmond, Va; seven sisters-in-law, Lucille Moody, Mary Perkins, Addie Medina
Lula Johnson, Barbara Johnson, Linda Johnson and Susie Lee Johnson; three
brothers-in-law, James Gardner, Fred Williams and Marvin Williams; thirty-three
grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews,
cousins, other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Laurel Hill
Baptist Church on Kentucky Springs Road in Mineral, VA. With the Reverend
Barry Carpenter, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
