The time has come for us to celebrate the homegoing of our beloved, James Leroy Jasper . He gained his wings on January 19, 2024, and is now flying high after our Heavenly Father allowed us to borrow him for the past 69 years. Leroy, as he was known to everyone, was a delight to know and always had a way of making you laugh. He will be greatly missed and forever loved.

James Leroy Jasper is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Lindsay, and Lillie Mae Jasper. Also preceded in death by his great niece, Joy Jasper and niece, Amanda Jones.

Leroy leaves behind his devoted wife since August 6, 1988, Vernell Florene Jasper, three beautiful children, Ernestine Jasper, and Leroy Jasper (Denise Jasper) of Charlottesville, Va, and Chriztian Jasper (Antoine Davis) of Louisa, Va. He also has three grandchildren, Jeremiah Moody of Goochland, Va, Samyia Jackson of Buckingham, Va and Harmoni Smith of Charlottesville, VA. They all will carry on his legacy. He also leaves behind his siblings, three sisters, Shirley, Gerline, and Barbara Ann Jasper, all of Louisa, Va and five brothers, Lindsay of Lynchburg, Va and Larry, David, Thomas, and Calvin all of Louisa, Va. He also was an uncle to a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews and along with cousins and many lifelong friends. Leroy's family and friends will carry on his precious memory and keep his infectious spirit alive.

Leroy attended Louisa County Public Schools and was employed with Wayne Poore Lumber Yard for decades. He was a member of Louisa County's First Baptist Church. Leroy was a hard worker, devoted husband, father, and family man as a whole. He was always in good spirits and could make anyone laugh. It was a blessing to know him or even to have crossed paths with him. He will be greatly missed and will always be loved and remembered by all he encountered.

Our family would like to give gratitude to everyone who has shown their respect, generosity, concern, care, and kind words and especially prayers in our time of grievance. We sincerely appreciate each one of you tremendously as we take this time to celebrate the homegoing of our beloved "Uncle Leroy."

A special thank you goes to Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital as well as VCU Rehab staff for all their hard work, dedication in their field and care for Leroy while he was in their healing hands. In addition to them, we would like to extend an extra special acknowledgement of gratitude to Donna Isom who has been an absolute phenomenal family friend, showing support and humanity for years to not only Leroy but the Jasper family. Again, we thank each of you for all you have done, prayers, kind and consoling words and simply caring leading up to and during this time.

Funeral services will be held 11am Saturday, February 3, 2024 at First Baptist Church 102 Meadows Avenue Louisa, Virginia 23093 with Rev. Bruce Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Jasper Family Cemetery.
