James Wesley Jackson departed his life on Monday, December 12, 2011, in Parham Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond, Virginia. He was born December 3, 1939 to the late Patrick M. and Mary Ann Woodford Jackson of Louisa County,Virginia.
At an early age, James accepted Jesus Christ as His Lord and Savior. He was a member of Mt. Hope Baptist Church. During his youth, he attended Louisa County Public Schools. In his adult life, he worked in Maryland for several years and worked at Tyson Foods for 38 years and retired as a maintenance mechanic. James had a passion for fishing, hunting and playing the guitar.
James was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia and Martha Jackson and three brothers, Charles, Luke and Jeremiah Jackson.
James leaves to cherish his wife, Elsie Jackson and his nine children, Tommy and Gale of Montpelier, Virginia, Wesley, Dorine, William and Tawanda Jackson of Mineral, VA, Doris, Roger and Amber Jackson of Louisa, VA, Ronnie and Patricia Jackson of Bumpass, VA and Courtney and Tamela Anderson of Richmond. He also leaves two sisters, Mary (James) Johnson of Mineral VA and Francis Coleman of Richmond; five brothers, Daniel (Gloria) Jackson of Bumpass, Israel Jackson of Lynchburg, VA, Henry and Willie Jackson of Louisa, VA and John Jackson of Bumpass, VA; ten grandchildren, great-grandchild, Quintin Anderson; five sisters-n-law, Maude Jackson, Gloria Jackson, Annie Waddy, Rena Waddy, Francis Waddy and Lucille Waddy; three brothers-n-law, James Johnson, David Waddy and Richard Waddy; two close friends, Thelma Anderson and Latonie Dryer and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Mt. Garland Baptist Church, Bumpass, VA, with the Rev. Dr. Charles B. Haden, Jr, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
