IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James J
Booker, Jr.
August 6, 1965 – January 12, 2026
When the time comes to bid this life farewell, we should find comfort in knowing that a loving God will be there with us to guide us to our new home.
James Julius Booker Jr., born on August 6, 1965, in Charlottesville, Virginia, to James J. Booker Sr., and Elouise Johnson Booker, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 12, 2026, at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital, entering eternal rest.
Raised in Orange County, Virginia, James received his education in the Orange County Public School System where he graduated in 1983.
After graduating, James dedicated himself to the Orange County Rescue Squad, where his unwavering commitment and years of service earned him a Lifetime Membership. Throughout his tenure there, he remained steadfast in his commitment to the safety and well-being of others. After his tenure with the rescue squad, James pursued a career as an Professional Over-the-Road truck driver. Although successful, he missed his home community and eventually returned to become an entrepreneur of Booker’s Unisex Beauty Salon and Booker’s Taxi Service, where he continued to fulfill his desire to serve others in the local community.
He was a cherished son, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle, and friend to all who knew him. His profound sense of humor and outgoing nature touched the lives of many.
A devoted follower of Christ, James, who was baptized and raised in the Church, came to know the Lord as a child. Throughout life’s ups and downs, James found unwavering peace and solace in the promises of God. He returned to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church to serve as Chairman of the Deacon Board, and any other calls of duties until his final calling home.
Anyone who knew James knew he was a proud Dallas Cowboys fan, even affectionately referring to him as “Cowboy.” James, a die-hard Cowboys Nation fan, eagerly watched the team play on TV, even if it meant missing dinner! His heart was filled with passion for his team, and he proudly wore their silver and blue colors. He was also an avid fan of the University of Virginia Sports Teams, often attending their games and viewing the Los Angeles Lakers during their season.
He was preceded in death by his father, James J. Booker, Sr. and several other beloved family members.
He leaves to cherish and honor his life his loving mother, Elouise Poindexter of Orange; his sisters, Marilyn Harris, Lisa (Bob) Booker-Ratliff, Stephanie Poindexter, and Theresa Ward, and his beloved cousin, Sharon (Clarence) Terrill , who was raised alongside him and remained close throughout his life. his uncles, Scott (Lily) Richardson, Peter (Diane) Johnson, David (Yolanda) and Edward Hamilton Great Great Uncle Romano Richardson, his Aunts, Jean Johnson, Christine Hardison, Jackie Rawling, Great Great Aunts Hester Minor, Anges (John) Thomas, Geraldine Richardson, Ruth McGhee. He is also survived by his five nieces - Danielle Booker, Kourtney Monroe, Destinee Burruss, Brooklyn Booker, and Avah Burruss-Johnson. Four nephews - Daryl (Telisha) Harris, Dustin Harris, Jadan Parks, and Drue Harris. Along with Dan Harris & family, a host of adored cousins and many cherished friends, whose bonds were special and will always be truly remembered as part of his story.
