James (Jimmy) William Farrar, born on October 8, 1954 gained his wings on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at his residence after a courageous battle against cancer.

He was the son of the late James Harry and Willie Hackney Farrar of Kents Store, Virginia. He was preceded in death by two siblings; a sister, Debra Jane Farrar-Jackson; a brother, Mark Thomas and a nephew, Johnathan Antonio.

Jimmy came to Christ at an early age and joined Galilee Baptist Church. He graduated from Fluvanna County High School in 1973. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served for four years. In 1991 he was joined in marriage with Judy Morton.

Jimmy was employed as an arborist (tree surgeon) where he excelled and was sought after by many tree service companies. He was employed by Van Yahres Tree Company, Inc., Keswick Estates, Henry Chandler & Company, Inc. & Bates Tree Service.

He was a loving brother to Harriett Parrish (George), Margie Farrar-Simpson (Ken), John Allan Farrar & Mary Grooms (John).

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Judy Morton Farrar; his daughter, Janelle Payne and his son, Robert Farrar; four aunts; Bessie Lucille Bratcher, Mattie Price (Leroy), Veronica Keyes, Lorraine Farrar, Mary Ann Scott, Malinda Bruce (Tom), Mattie Hackney and Phyllis Hackney; one uncle, Eugene Farrar (Janet); a grandson, JaQuan Payne, a great granddaughter Au'Briana Payne; five nieces; Jonnay, Jordan, Tamisha, Victoria & Latasha; five nephews; Brian, Chay, Quentin, Drew and with whom he shared a special bond, Mark; and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held 2 p.m. at Galilee Baptist Church 3598 Three Notch Road Kents Store, 23084 on Saturday, October 21, 2017 with Reverend Reuben Lewis will deliver the Eulogy.

There will be no public viewing.

Repast will follow in the church Fellowship Hall.
