Isabelle Christmas Grooms,
affectionately known as Pudden, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at Hospice of the Piedmont. She was born on April 20, 1936 to the late Ralph and Frances Christmas. She was the wife of the late John Francis Grooms, Sr. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Elizabeth Grooms, three brothers, William Christmas, Curtis Christmas, and Richard Christmas; four sisters, Frances Washington, Virginia Batchelor, Grace Carter, and Blanche Batchelor.
Isabelle joined Foster Creek Baptist Church at an early age and remained a faithful member until her recent illness. Isabelle was a humble and kind-hearted woman who loved her family. She always greeted you with her beautiful smile. She babysat for 45 years and was one of the best. She embraced her children with love and taught them values. She often showed her love cooking for family and friends.
She leaves to cherish her memory one son, John Francis Grooms, Jr and wife Mary of Troy, Virginia; two daughters, Patricia Christmas of Scottsville, Virginia, Itina Batchelor of Troy, Virginia; five grandchildren, Michael, Akeisha and Corey Christmas, Jonnay and Mark Grooms; three great-grandchildren, Dominic and Zaikeese Christmas and Aniya Washington; two brothers, Ralph Christmas, Arthur Christmas (Joyce) of Louisa, Virginia; two sisters, Ruth Quarles (Larry) of Gordonsville, Virginia, Merry Christmas of Louisa, Virginia; four sisters-in-law; Marie Christmas, Alberta Coffey (Harold), Mattie Lee (Carol), Virginia Ragland; three brothers-in-law, Alfred Grooms (Marion), Thomas Grooms, Earl Lee Grooms (Merry); special niece, Emily Clark, caring friend Harriett Parrish and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
On Sunday, July 9, 2017, her life will be celebrated at 2:00 PM, at Foster Creek Baptist Church 4028 East Jack Jouett Road Louisa, VA 23093 with Reverend Michael Crawley delivering the message of comfort. The committal and benediction will be held in Grooms Family Cemetery.
