Iris Ann Smith passed away peacefully at her home in Louisa Virginia. She was born on November 17, 1932 in Louisa Virginia. She was the first of three children born to the late Mandy Jackson Smith and Joseph Grady Smith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Alice Elaine Gatewood; two nieces, Darlene Brewer and Wilhelmina Ellis; three nephews, Richard Glen Gatewood, Robert Grady Gatewood, and Raymond Garnett Gatewood; one great nephew, Robert Gregory Gatewood, and two brothers-in-law, Robert Henry Gatewood and Elwood Dewey White.
She attended Louisa Training School. She was employed by Vaughn's Dry Cleaners for many years. She also worked at the Boswell's Tavern Nursing Home.
She joined First Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of Reverend B.D. Ellis. She served in the Usher Ministry and the Youth Ministry.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her sister, Florence White; her nephews, Roger Gatewood Carol) and Ronald Gatewood; her niece, Earlina Holmes, (Bobby); a good friend and caregiver, Shirley Williams and a host of great nieces and great nephews.
