Ira Lee (Davenport) Moore was born on June 28, 1938 in Cumberland, Virginia to the late Perry Davenport and Lucy (Johnson) Davenport. Ira Lee Moore was a woman of God and of great faith. As a child, her Christian walk began at an early age accepting Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior having been baptized in Cumberland, Virginia. Ira attended school in Cumberland before her family moved back to New Jersey, where she completed her studies. When the family relocated from Virginia to New Jersey, she joined Christ Temple Baptist Church of Paterson, New Jersey, where she continued to grow in her faith. Ira's parents raised her and her 8 siblings on the values of faith, love, caring and sharing.

Stanley and Ira met in 1956 through mutual friends. She met the love of her life and they were united in Holy Matrimony on October 18, 1956. Stanley affectionately remembers and admires his wife with her long, flowing hair. Through this union, God blessed Stanley and Ira with two children, Lawrence Curtis Moore and Deborah Gail Moore. Later in life they welcomed two more daughters April and Schina Moore into their family. Stanley and Ira believed in family and frequently spent quality time fishing, cooking, and doing extra-curricular activities together, strengthening the family bond. Laughter was often heard in the home as the family played games of Rummy and Pictionary. Ira was a great cook and baker and her family delighted in her meals and desserts. Stanley was an avid fisherman and Ira often fried fish with the fixings for the family. Stanley and Ira continued to instill these strong family values, including hard work, pursuing an education and investing in the future, in their children, grandchildren and all those that their lives touched.

Ira was devoted to service in the church. In Norwalk, she continued her fellowship, at Calvary Baptist Church for over 25 years. Ira served the Lord with gladness, including as Sunday School Superintendent, Teacher, Usher and Senior Choir Member. Ira shared her faith with her family, raising her children in the church and imparting Christian wisdom and values in the lives of her grandchildren and extended family. She believed in the power of prayer and that the fervent effectual prayers of the righteous availeth much. She will be remembered as a person who truly loved the Lord with all her heart, demonstrated in word and deed.

Ira was employed by the United States Postal Service for almost 40 years until her retirement in 2001 at which time Ira and Stanley, after years of hard work and planning, relocated to Mineral, Virginia to enjoy their retirement and golden years, raising their daughters April and Schina. This brought her such joy. In Virginia, Ira worshipped at First Baptist Church also serving faithfully as Superintendent, Teacher, Senior Choir Member and Missionary. In her spare time, she loved to sit on her veranda and enjoy the landscaping, flowers and nature on her and Stanley's property. She affectionately loved her TV shows, such as Matlock, Texas Ranger and Blue Bloods, along with her infamous Pepsi.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give to me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing." 2 Timothy 4:7-8
