Ida Mae Holmes Waddy , popularly known as Ida, was a beacon of light and love, born on November 1, 1942, in Philadelphia, PA. Her life journey, marked by creativity and adventure, led her to touch countless hearts before she departed from this world on Sunday, July 2, 2023 at her home. Her spirit will continue to reside in Louisa, Virginia, her home for the last 48 years.

Ida was a woman of profound thoughtfulness and immense love, qualities she demonstrated in every sphere of her life. As a dedicated member of the UVA House Keeping Services in Charlottesville, VA, Ida served the healthcare community with unwavering commitment until her retirement. Her work was a testament to her belief in the dignity of all jobs, exuding her love and respect for her colleagues and the people she served. "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life," Confucius once said, and Ida was a living embodiment of this philosophy.

Ida was a beloved daughter to Charles J. Holmes and Martha Ann Pendleton Holmes, and a loving wife to Calvin Jenkins "Buck" Waddy, all of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by her nephew, Paul Jones, who was blessed to know the depths of her affection. Above all, what mattered most to Ida was her family. Ida's life reminds us of the words of Brad Henry: "Families are the compass that guides us. They are the inspiration to reach great heights, and our comfort when we occasionally falter."

The graveside memorial service honoring Ida's life will be held on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at 12:00 pm EDT at Standing On the Promise of God, 1201 Waldrop Church Road, Louisa, Virginia, 23093. All who knew Ida are welcome to attend and share in the celebration of her life.
