Horace Cherry was born on July 24, 1941 to the late Grady Cherry Sr. and Lena Cherry Manley in Bertie County, North Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Grady Cherry Jr., Robert Cherry, James Rudolph Cherry and Johnny Mack Cherry; sisters, Dorothy Mae Jones and Queen Watford.

Horace was known for his smile and great sense of humor. He loved to laugh, talk, and spend time with his family and friends. He was a joy to everyone who knew him.

Horace passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday July 25, 2018 with his family by his side.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted wife, Mary Cherry; children, Michael Cherry, Ricky Cherry, Darrell Cherry, Keith Cherry (Sahara), Shanda Thompson and Natasha Shelton (Kevin); brother, Charlie Cherry (Beverly); sister-in-law, Dorothy Buckner (Jesse), son-in-law, Herbert Thompson Sr.; two brothers-in-law, Luke Payne and Bishop Willie M. Jones; 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
