Herbert Lee Poindexter, 90 of Goochland, Virginia died on Sunday, January 1, 2012, at Envoy at the Meadows in Goochland, Virginia .
Born Friday, September 2, 1921 in Louisa, Virginia , he was the son of the late Alexander Poindexter and the late Susie Davis Poindexter. He was the husband of the late Velma Davis Poindexter.
He was a member of St. John's Baptist Church.
Surviving are daughter, Martha Givens of Brentwood, MD; brother, James Poindexter of Mineral, VA; sisters, Ruth A. Nelson of Baltimore, MD, and Verna Mae Comfort of Mineral, VA; 5 grand children, 12 great grand children, 2 great great grands and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by brothers, Joseph Poindexter, Harry Poindexter, Roosevelt Poindexter and Calvin Poindexter; sisters, Florean P Anderson and Marion Poindexter.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2012 at St. John's Baptist Church, 5482 Zachary Taylor Highway, Mineral, VA with the Rev. Jerry Coleman officiating. Interment will be in the Poindexter Family Cemetery.
