IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Herbert Hoover
Horton
May 3, 1932 – April 29, 2020
Herbert Hoover Horton, 87 of Bumpass, Virginia was called home by the Lord to be forever amid profound peace on Wednesday, April 29, 2020. Herbert was born on Tuesday, May 3, 1932 to the late Luther Horton and Cordie Fox of North Carolina. Herbert was one of ten children and was preceded in death by five brothers, Philip Horton, Henry Horton , Junior Horton , Frank Horton , and Lloyd Horton of Louisa and three sisters, Wilma May Johnson of Louisa, Gladys May Isaac of Richmond, and Pauline Fleming of Spotsylvania. He is now reunited with eight of his siblings.
Mr. Horton was a devoted man of faith, and became a Christian early in life. He attended Laurel Hill Baptist Church at a early age, loved the lord, and praised HIM throughout his life. He loved his lawn mower, for he enjoyed cutting grass, and making a fire in the wood stove regardless of the weather. Herbert also loved animals, teddy bears, people and children more than anything. He worked for Thomas Stanley Sawmill of Bumpass, Virginia for more than 20 years of his lifetime. He also worked at North Anna Power Plant for many years.
Mr. Horton's presence will be missed, and his memory cherished by all his family and friends. He leaves to mourn, his beloved sister, Alma Mickens of Bumpass VA; two special friends, Charles Henry Woodford of Bumpass VA and Charles Woodford Jr. He also leaves a host of his much-loved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Due to the governor's declaration that funeral services or private family gatherings are limited, the family will hold a private graveside service for immediate family only.
